ANALYSIS | Mandy Moore and Shane West's film A Walk to Remember dealt with a similar premise. Although devoid of drama, the script of the film created magic on the screen due to its simplicity and the powerful chemistry between the lead couple. Ashi hi Ashiqui is trying to incorporate a little extra drama into a similar story, but it works against the movie. At first, this film from Sachin Pilgaonkar suggests a mushy romance, but things change tracks soon. The film could have had a better impact on the viewers with better execution and chemistry between the lead pair. And while a little cheesiness is a given while portraying a young couple in love, going over the top can go against the film's progress, which is exactly what's going on here. The second half of the film feels cliched and draws many similarities from Dasvidaniya, Vinay Pathak's 2008 movie starring. But in the end, there's a twist. Abhinay is unable to live up to his expectations as far as acting is concerned. Hemal is sincere in her performance, but she doesn't make a mark, mostly because the weak script doesn't give her much scope to prove her abilities. Even though he performed very well, in this film, the acting skills of Sunil Barve were wasted.A powerful screenplay could have been in for this script as a game-changer.
